I have also worked out how to add both Facebook and Twitter buttons to all the jewellery items on my website - would love you to click and share any of your favourite pieces.

20% discount for Xmas 2013
I am offering a 20% discount until 10th December 2013 for all purchases (from my website) totalling over £60. UK delivery only. To take advantage of this amazing offer please enter code xmas2013 at checkout. Share the love with friends and family!
I've really been enjoying working with the spheres to make multi coloured necklaces and bracelets instead of the usual single or two colour combos. I'm thinking of introducing a couple of new colours - a Bright Violet which would fill the gap between Lilac and Bright Pink - and a lovely deep Bottle Green. Will show those next time :-)

autumn beckons
beginning to feel chilly now and I'm pleased we have just had an oil delivery - got a feeling the heating might need to go on soon. Especially as I sit and work at a desk all day making jewellery and listening to Radio 4 - I know I should get out and take a walk but there always seems so much to do. Note to self really should get another dog!
I don't know why I didn't think of it before - but allow me to introduce the 12 Sphere Necklace! Twelve spheres of your colour choice and in the order you prefer collected together on a necklace. Length is typically 17 inches (43 cm) but can be made up to 22 inches at no extra charge.
I just had to post this commission which I made up last month. A neighbour approached me for a present for his wife for a special occasion - he knew exactly what he wanted - a brooch featuring their TWO cats!!! Hmmm, a little tricky and additionally, there had to be a larger black cat and a smaller ginger cat... I had great fun making this double cat brooch - but don't think it will be repeated any time soon!!

Art Trek - 2013
getting excited about the start of Art Trek on Saturday 6th July. It will be the first time I have opened my new studio to the public and I'm madly trying to get organised. The front garden still looks like a building site but visitors will just have to turn a blind eye!
you can pick up a brochure from Tourist Information at the Town Hall.giving information about all the other venues which will be open over the fortnight.
I shall be demonstrating and talking to visitors from 10.30am to 4.30pm on the following days:
Sat 6th July and Sun 7th July
Thurs 11th July to Sun 14th July
Thurs 18th July to Sun 21st July
Single Moving Sphere DOTS Necklaces |
I will also have work at Broomhill Art Hotel, near Barnstaple - there is an ongoing exhibition of North Devon Artists from 3rd July to 24th August. Broomhill has magnificent Sculpture Gardens and an award winning restaurant - well worth a visit!
I'm on Lee Road which is the main road through Lynton (nearly opposite the PO)
Hope to see you during Art Trek

social media and me!
Several things have happened in the past week and all of them have been associated with Social Media!
Firstly, I would be the first to admit that I am a novice at this sort of marketing and so when I reached 500 followers on Twitter I was pretty chuffed with myself :-) and I decided to offer a free pair of earrings with any necklace ordered. This worked out fairly well and a few people took up the offer, but I thought that I would have been flooded with eager persons wanting to take advantage of a free pair of earrings.
I then attended a meeting of the north Devon branch of Women Do Business which is usually held in South Molton - a great wee village with the fabulous Griffin's Yard wholefood shop and cafe in which to indulge myself at lunch time after all the hard work of the morning...
The speaker that day was Tina Sibley - who was really inspiring and I came away determined to conquer Social Media at any cost! So I decided to push my profile on both Twitter and Facebook AND join Google+ which I was assured was the next BIG THING! I've just spent 2 hours trying to make a profile and wondering how exactly all this time trying to update my SocMed presence across ALL the ones available is going to help. It's like trying to juggle lots of oranges in the air at once!
Anyway, I ended up deserting that and making up some orders - and I really liked the colour combo in this necklace and bracelet set ordered by Every Cloud Boutique in Dorchester
The next goal is to reach 200 followers on my Facebook Page and then it will be a giveaway of a £15 voucher towards any item from my website www.sandymitchell.co.uk

a whole day to update my website!
It started with a few tweaks here and there and before I had realised it, I had embarked on a HUGE project.
I was first excited by the addition of a slideshow of images which could be placed at the top of the homepage. That of course meant I had to go through my images and find ones which stood out aesthetically not images which showed the intricacies of the jewellery to a customer.
Great fun was had with editing suites and my new SMS DOTTY Necklaces became quite artistic - what do you think?
There were also photos which I had had taken professionally and were BEAUTIFUL
Shock, horror - as I was going through the various images, I had been so busy designing that I had forgotten to put them on the website! So, that was quickly remedied and on the left hand side of the blog is a 'What's New' feature which shows the Sphere Cluster Pendant :-)
Oh yes, and I've also just put a Google +1 icon at the top right of the page - would be great if you could click on it - thanks.
All in all a very busy Friday and now I have to go and dig the garden to lay a new water pipe - oh the joys!

a year to move house???
where on earth has the past year gone? I notice that I last posted in April last year - which is unbelievable. Yes, we have moved house and I haven't had a proper studio to work from in all this time but work has still gone on and orders have been made up and sent out.
One such order caught my eye this week and I just had to take photos and share.

The colours were so Spring! Lime, Orange, Baby Pink and Lilac. Shown here in Scribblework Plain Bracelets at the back - Sphere Cluster Pendant in the foreground (a new design) and then four pairs of matching earrings complete the picture. It looked very fresh and vibrant - apparently orange is THE colour for Spring 2013.
I am now going to give myself a challenge to blog at least twice a month for the rest of the year - that is after we have dug the hole for the oil tank...

usherette volunteer on mondays
I go along to Lynton Cinema every Monday and spend a fun 30 minutes showing people to their seats for the evening movie. This week it was The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - brilliant film, wish there were more like them!
The cinema is quite a tourist attraction and very pretty - it seats 60 in proper cinema seats and it was packed full this week
The cinema will change from reel film to digital this summer as there will no longer be films made in the reel to reel format. We are hoping to raise funds to support this.
Always wise to book on 01598 753397 - this week I had to sit on the mobile cinema seat in the aisle!!
